Growing Fleshy Fruited Vegetables

The fleshy-fruited, warm-season vegetables, of which the tomato is the most important, also include peppers, eggplant, cucumber, watermelon, and cantaloupe. They are all closely related and have about the same cultural requirements. All must have warm weather and fertile, well-drained soil for good results.

The entire family is highly nutritious containing significant amounts of vitamin C and many minerals such as iron, calcium, and magnesium. They should be included as a regular part of a healthy diet.
