Growing Corn Salad

Cornsalad is also known as lamb's-lettuce and fetticus. The seed should be sown in early spring in drills. Cultivate the plants the same as lettuce or mustard. For an extra early crop, plant the seed in the autumn and cover the plants lightly through the winter. Your crop will be ready to eat about 10 to 12 weeks after sowing. They can be used whole or cut.

In order to have a continual supply of salad leaves it is best to sow the seed on a continung basis from early spring to late summer. In more Southerly areas a late summer sowing might also succeed, supplying edible leaves through the winter months.

In  Southern States  covering is not necessary, and the plants will be ready for use in February and March. The leaves are frequently used in their natural green state, but they may be blanched by covering the rows with anything that will exclude light.
